Fast and Frugal!
Now in today's exotic car world, you can spend a couple million on a 1,200-HP car, which will reach speeds of 270 MPH. On the other hand, for less than what it would cost to replace a transmission in that car, you can own this barn find 1979 Ferrari 308 GTS, with just 1,600 miles. Although, the last I checked, the state troopers will still issue some pretty impressive driving awards for 140-MPH! Not to mention, the old-school Ferrari market has gone crazy. As long as uncle Sam doesn't get into the collector car business, you shouldn't get hurt at $139,900 for this one.
This is our 1979 Ferrari 308 GTS, finished in stunning Rosso Corsa Red, complimented by a beautiful Tan interior. Only 1,600 miles!
We have all heard the stories of unusual barn finds, well here is another one for the books. This 1979 Ferrari 308 GTS was found in the small town of Hondo TX. Purchased new 9-19-1979 at Bavarian Motors of Fort Worth TX. This one-owner 308 GTS was found stored under a car cover in a carport with just under 1,500 actual miles! After being transported to Red Car Restorations of Rockwall TX it was brought back to life after many years of sitting. All mechanicals were thoroughly assessed and the painstaking restoration began. Engine was removed and disassembled, while disassembled all parts were sent out for correct replating and anodizing. Braking systems reconditioned, all electrical systems checked along with air conditioning system restored to factory specs. Carburetors were reassembled and dialed in new timing belt, tensioners, water pump were then installed, valves were adjusted to factory spec and the engine was brought to life in January 2017!
Due to storage conditions paint checking had occurred. So #28663 was meticulously prepped for a new Rosso Corsa finish (Original Color). Interior was not spared in the restoration process all new door panels, and seat leather were ordered form Reoriginal that supplied us with all correct Ferrari leather items direct from Italy. Only the best pieces for #28663 were considered. Cost was not an issue in this restoration!
September 20th, 2018 #28663 was back to her original glory. Many man hours and lots of hard work went into this one owner, now 1,600 miles 308 GTS.
